IACUC Policies Using Tissue Specimens Generated from Another Institution's Animal Use Protocol Date adopted: April 11, 2006 University of Montana research faculty may receive tissue specimens from other investigators who have their own Animal Use Protocol (AUP) at a different institution. In order to receive such tissue specimens, the UM faculty member must answer the following: Does the UM investigator receiving the tissue specimens have an integral role in the scientific questions under investigation in the Animal Use Protocol (AUP) under which the specimens were collected? If answered ‘yes' , the UM investigator must submit his/her own AUP to the University of Montana Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) describing in detail the research that will generate the tissue specimens. The AUP approval process will proceed as outlined in the AUP Policy listed elsewhere. If answered ‘no', the UM investigator must fill out a Tissue Use Approval Request Form and submit it to the IACUC Coordinator, Kathryn.mariucci@umontana.edu . This form will be approved by the IACUC and kept on file for a minimum of three years. |
